This is just a quick tut, Im a newbie at concept art but Im doing this quick tut to help you along a bit.
-Always merge your layers exept for the backround - if you dont do this and do it all in seperate layers you going to have some terrible outcome. Ctrl + E to merge layers , remember you must click a layer , then keep your finger on Ctrl then click the other layer and then press Ctrl+E.
- Ok open this image and keep it up throughout the tutorial so I can go through some things. http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/2922/loltutfy9.jpg . ... next link is the normal image with the layer with the lines hiden check it out. http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/4896/someguykx3.jpg
-Use a 101 pixel hard round brush for big parts of the render and for the more detailed sections use a nice 19 pixel hard round brush or experiment with your own styles of brushes (different brushes)
- Over the layer of your concept , try this technique it might help you find the points which dont look completely right , like the joints and different sections of the render, on mine I have marked points in a circular brush of different colours to show were I am going wrong. The lines show were those circles are because their hard to see... Hide it and keep rendering on one layer. Go back to find the weak points on your image.
- The last things on this image you should see were I have labled 32% black which refers to the colour panel I thought might help beginners like me, so you can use the eyedropper tool then (I) on the left tool box to find the colours of a cetain shade etc that you have been usuing without loosing what it is, I suggest to do this because many amateurs do it , I am not sure about the Pros but I think they might also use this technique, I have labbled 32% in text because , sometimes you know what shading you want but cant see it and know if a shading is too light or dark this way, I suggest use the "tool panel" you can create to do this only with the colours you use mostly.
- FOCUS one of the main points and the on the picture you should see the quick reference on the legs showing their muscles , this picture only took me 5 minutes to do so the quality is very poor.
- Build up your concept art in layers of paints , NOT layers.
-Brush carefully keeping in mind were the depth and light of the render must be at all times.

This tutorial was just to give some helpful tips too users of photoshop who want to do concept art but are struggling a way to start.
Ok, I am a beginner also so if you don't read this carefully it's not going to look good anyway, I don't suggest you use everything I do because you can figure you own ways out in concept art that will help you in different ways and I am very unexperienced at this stuff so here's some cool links for people who are determined.
www.conceptart.org -- Great place for beginners to get started because you can get very handy tips from the amateurs and pros.
