Its all in the tutorial.

** NOTE ** You need basic knowledge and understanding of flash in order to understand the tutorial. Most people will not understand it/ or get it to work properly i presume. Thats why i explained how it works first in the tutorial just incase you might mess up you can understand why it's not working.

The Ripple Tutorial (http://www.swfup.com/file/10025)

P.S Ya i will make a better tutorial with pictures and actual graphics later, heres just the quicky, there is an example at the end. (The tutorial is 3 frames long lol). And you'll notice my example is like 8 differen't colours, thats because the more detailed your backround is, the more the effect will stand out (this doesn't mean you need a billion colours, it can be 1 shade of grey with lots of cracks or details in the wall and make it look good).

**Edit** Heres one that steiner made as a test recently. Its not that hard =).

Nice tutorial, Miphisto. Would've worked with a few screenshots, but I still understood.

I kinda figured the ripple effect had something to do with masking. Just didn't really know exactly how to go about doing it. I guess I can use this knowledge to do that inverting colors thing like with Oblivious's RHG fight with Jcamelo.

I didn't really know about the actionscript way of doing it, though. Could you tell me about it? Is it any better than this method?

I've seen this ripple effect done one other time, and thats in the Castle series with the invisable tentacles. I don't know if Oscar uses AS but you can do it with AS. I'm just not sure on how to go about that.

And i plan on making a better tutorial with screen shots and better graphics + more interactivity.
