New Portal Features

Hey guys,

I'm pleased to announce that I have completed two new features for the portal.

1.) Thumbnail Images - now you have to upload a image. There is no more "create a image for me" option. So start learning how to make good thumbnail images...

2.) Blam Feature - The theory on how this works is shown below:

A) once a user makes a submission. That submission is flagged as "Under Judgment" until minimum 25 users rate it and 75 users view it.

B) Once the submission passes 25 ratings and 75 views the feature will kick in and either allow it to remain on the site or be deleted.

C) The feature decides on if the submission stays or gets deleted depending on the submissions rating. If the rating is above 35% it stays on the site. If the rating is below 35%, the submission is automatically deleted.

Maybe there should be a stickied thread on here where you can ask for people to make thumbnails for you. Much like the "Award Thread" in the Animation Attack forum. Don't really know how that would work, though. Maybe this will get some hard pressed noobs to finally go and read a tut. I'm sure they have something there.



Does this mean my "Portals" anim will get deleted from the portal? It doesn't have a thumbnail image. Eh, it's not like anyone even looks at that thing anymore. It was submitted back in October, I think.

You may be right for now however when making this feature we have to think long term. The portal will grow with more and more users rating and it won't be long before new submissions get double that within the first day they are submitted. This should also give you members more reason to go to the portal and rate submissions.

Technically, that didn't happen to us, we just stole it from /b/...

Anyway, this is very good. This will hopefully eliminate critisism of our average 1 relatively good anims out of 10 on the top ten by getting rid of the shitty ones and the tests and bringing the quality ones to the top. Very nice, Zulu, keep up the good work.
