View Full Version : Regarding Bad Posts

Okay, as I'm sure all of you know, there is a "report a bad post" http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8074/reportpostza8.png (http://imageshack.us). Until now this button has been useless due to the fact that it sends an email to all the mods and admins. Well this email goes straight to the spam folder/filter and we never check that.
Now, Zulu has installed a new mod recently that when you "report a bad post" it creates a thread that the mods can see and then easily deal with. So, this should work really well and we should be able to deal with the lesser spams that usually go unnoticed. This means that you as a member need to start using the http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8074/reportpostza8.png (http://imageshack.us) button if you want us to clean things up.
Oh, and I know no one here would do this but seeing as the temptation is there, any user who abuses this mod will be taken care of... Just so everyone knows, when you report a bad post a thread is created under YOUR name. So, if we get stupid reports on posts that are clean and find out you just want to piss us off we will official put a lid on you.
I really hope this mod will be very effective and we (Mods & Zulu) encourage your to use the http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8074/reportpostza8.png (http://imageshack.us) button.
Thats it!
Thanks for reading.

SPP is shaping up to be 10,000,000 times better than SP... and this is making it THAT much better... which is why I think everyones still at sp,
because they like spamming... also, some may not know of spp, and some
may not understand the concept of "posts, post count, accounts everything stays the same just gets carried over, so no rejoining" ****** had to tell them 5,00,000,000 times in that spp thread on sp (*******'s nickname is frankeh for those of you who dunno who im talking about).

That's nice. Where does it create the thread?
Benja

Well, he is right in a way Zulu, but all the better for us to slap 'em with the bannage stick.
Put yeah, guys. The report post button = your friend!

I don't see how it can be abused. Nicol and I have already stated that if anyone abuses it they are perma banned. So, I don't how anyone can abuse it for long.
That's nice. Where does it create the thread?
In a subforum of a forum that you can't see...

Perma banning seems kind of harsh. I mean isnt this why the warn system was installed?
Anyways, it will always give mods something to do. They can just sit down, pull out the Bad Post Bin.

I mean i'm talking about full out spamming the system. Not like 3-5 mistakes... i'm talking about 10-20 HAHAHA reports. We might do a timed ban as well. Depends on what they do really. 3-5 reports would be a warning or more... not a ban though.
Hmm... I don't like Paperclip's avatar... I'm going to report Strong2's post because of it!

Ash, that post was complete spam and you have been warned for it.

The sarcastic spam is a hard one to pull off. Use it wisely, ash.
I think this is turning out to be a good system. Easier for us to see reported posts.
Ok, I know, it was a mistake and I deserved it. Anyway, you should make a way for users to see if one of their posts was bad or something. That way, they can have more of a warning, wyou know, like, putting them on probation, and if another post is reported in that time, THEN ban them.
Oh, and now that you reminded me, is a warning lifed after a while, or does a mod have to take it off?

Ash, that post was complete spam and you have been warned for it.
Should I report him :p ?
I made something similar in my forum, but instead of making an automatic thread, It automatically sent me a quote of the post and the link.
Then I set my max PM's to 50000 and gave me 8 million posts.

Yeah this is a great system, this way we can keep the spam level on SP low. Hopefully we won't lose to many members. Cause some people just join to spam. This is gonna be great and I can't wait to see the outcome.

Maybe this is why on SP, the warn thing never seemed to work.

good! now we wont have the problems that SPF is now having. Thank you mods! (in your infinite wisdom, knowledge, and strenght, you guide us feeble members throught the evil lairs of spammers without fear)
It is a great idea. however, you have to expect that some people will just hit this button without thought just to annoy the mods.
STUFF
09-01-2006, 08:25 AM
The people who press it and send it for no reason will get warned for it. So, it doesn't really matter unless the mods are really tired to open an inbox or whatever keeps those complaints.

I already used it once to pin point who 2-D was. He was banned soon after that. Dudeman even gave me credit :)
So I only press every now an again. Not to over use it.

I reckon if one of your posts is reported bad you should get a pm with the reasons why it was bad.
*starts randomly warning people
*accidently clicks Zulu
*quits SPP

The mods job is hard enough mate, they don't need to baby stupid members! Everybody knows the rules. The only time there asked to PM the member is under special reasons.
It's this simple, if you don't know what spam is, if you don't know what flame is or if you don't know what the the rest of the forum rules are. Then your probably breaking them and you will probably be warned!

Does bumping age old threads count as a bad post?
As in, bumping 1 week old+ threads.
And the obvious answer is yes.

This forum doesn't count.
Anyway, people aren't taking advantage of the system. They'd rather post how stupid the person is for advertising than report the post!
It's so pathetic.
