were is everbody getting these profile pictures. i cant even find one!

Wrong section, this belongs in General Help.

Click "User CP" at the top. On the left you'll find profile editing options. One of those you can change your avatar.

I saw this question coming.

It's because they've had their avatars for a good while. When Zulu backed up the files and uploaded the avatars, sigs, and post counts to the new forum the people were allowed to have animated avatars (as long as they didn't change them).

Why not anything animated? I can't upload my pivot avatar I spent forever on now. :(

Well then your a genious maybe if there is hundreds of threads saying "How come I cant have a animated avatar" then I dunno what to say. Profile pics are the same as your avatar, unanimated.

Now I'm never changing it, no matter how sucky it is......

And no matter how much this rule bites, at least we're allowed to have animated siggies, so be optimistic about it! Many forums limit stuff like that, but that's because they worry about "money" or something, which cj obviously has enough of that he needs not worry about it.....

CJ doesn't have endless money. That might be a reason that we cut back things like animated avatars. There is a sig size rule as well.

But now that the question has been answered, this thread has served it's purpose.
