A tutorial for this was attempted by earlier, but mine is a bit larger and more complete. It doesnt have any pictures from the Flash interface, since ive been a bit busy lately and dont have too much time to spare, but if people are confused i'll try to add them neway.

Hmm...

Why not just start with making the animation into a movieclip?

You know how much easier it is to use the ink bottle instead of soften fill edges?

I've never attempted animating it even, but someone ought to make a tutorial showing how to do these the right way, as in showing detail and front and back limbs.

Benja-
...what?

ReceptionFades-
yea it would, i guess i 4got that was there since i hardly ever use it
I will change that later tho

The whole movie clip glow thing is way less time-consuming, than using the ink bottle tool for every frame tho. Way to overlook the good idea. Also if you want to show detail with front and back limbs you're better off just animating using movie clips and pivot points rather than lines. There's a pretty good Tutorial for that here (http://nch85.deviantart.com/) just go to Ana's flash tutorial.

In the tutorial you showed that you first have to make the animation, and later put it in a movieclip. So I´m just saying, it would be easier if you started with making the animation into a movieclip.
Duh!

i think i see what you're saying now benja - you mean converting the first frame of the animation into a movie clip right? That mightve been more obvious had you'd included that whole first frame thing, but when you say start with making the animation into sumed that you meant the animation was already finished a movie clip, i aswhen you converted it, especially since if you're just converting the first frame it would be an image, not an animation.

Anyway yea, you could do that but personally i prefer to just create all the major animations for the movie before i convert them to movie clips, if possible, so i can see how they match up. I do that because once something's converted to a movieclip, you cant play it back without exporting the swf movie, which takes time. Short stuff like explosions, beams, water, i do convert to movie clips tho, just so i can give them movie clip filters and stuff and so the timeline doesnt look so clutered up.

No, I wasn't thinking about converting the first frame...just click Crtl+F8 VOILA, and you´re in a new movie clip.

And if you want to scripple trough your animation, you could just change the movie clip to a graphic symbol temporarily.

I would make a tutorial about how I made outline sticks and how simple it was, but I dont have flash anymore. :/ If anyone remembers my old unfinished war animation, then you could see my outline sticks.

Actually, if you saw ANY of my animations you'd see outline sticks, all done smoothly.

*edit* screenshots from different animations.

I just set "convert shapes to fills" as a hotkey, and go to each frame and press the hotkey, then go back with the ink bottle tool and a one pixel line and just click on the stick to add the outline.

You could also turn in Multiple frames edit, lock every layer expect the one for your stick. Then, click the 1st frame, go to edit > select all > make sure the multiple frames edit is over your whole animation > turn line into fills > get the outline tool and voila!
