Alrighty, I know there are three sig tuts already, but this one is for complete noobs. Enjoy!
Step one: Make a new document that’s black and 400 by 150 pixels.

Step two: Take a cool brush in white and start to brush on the background. (Leave a little black though, it will look better in the end.)

Optional step: Go to filters and chose a cool filter from the menu.
Step 3: Get yourself a good render and open it up as a new document. I get mine here . Take the render and use the crop tool to select your favorite part of the image. (I usually do the head)

Step 4: Drag the cropped image into your other document and go to layer-merge visible

Step 5: Open up the layers window and click on the scroll bar on the bottom (the one that is a half shaded circle).
Step 6: Scroll down to Hue/Saturation and select colorize. Then, slide the bars until you get what you want.

Step 7: Add your favorite text and youre done! (optional: go to the effects menu and select a cool text effect)
